DISTRIBUTION CENTER ANNOUNCES
March 10  Board of Commissioners Chairman Kenneth Robinette today announced that SRB Holdings, LLC, would build a distribution center in the Richmond County Industrial Park to distribute recreational products. SRB will construct a 300,000 square foot building that will ultimately employ between 120-150 people.

PROGESS ENERGY TO EXPAND POWER PLANT
Hamlet (October 29) - Board of Commissioners Chairman Kenneth Robinette today announced that Progress Energy plans to invest an estimated $700 million to $750 million in building new electric generation capability at its energy complex in Richmond County and new transmission capacity to move electricity to where its needed. Based on the current tax rate, the portion in Richmond County will generate approximately $3 million in additional annual tax revenue.

Richmond County is very excited to know that Andy Hillenburg has bought North Carolina Motor Speedway. Andy brings a lot of racing experience back to the area where part of racings roots began. We anticipate his attractions will be good for our area.

OWENS ANNOUNCES $10 MILLION EXPANSION
(June 18) Owens-Illinois, Inc. has announced a $10 million product line expansion at the companys Hamlet, N.C. facility. The Hamlet, N.C., closure facility will be adding capacity as part of its planned capital for the year to the carbonated soft drink closure (CSD) line which will result in more than 1.3 billion units of additional capacity. The expansion, which begins September 2007, is expected to be completed by February 2008, will also require adding approximately 12 employees.

LATICRETE TO EXPAND
(March 12) Board of Commissioners Chairman Kenneth Robinette today announced that Laticrete International, the industry leader for stone and tile adhesives and grout, has announced a $1.8 million product line expansion at the companys Richmond County facility. The expansion will require 8 new employees. Laticrete has been in operation in the Richmond County Industrial Park since Summer 2005.

BST SAFETY TEXTILES ANNOUNCE 200 JOBS
(February 1, 2007) Board of Commissioners Chairman Kenneth Robinette today announced that Narricot Industries' division BST Safety Textiles, makers of side curtain airbags for the automotive industry, will open a plant in Richmond County, eventually creating up to 200 jobs and investing $35 million over the next three years. BST will move into space available in the International Textiles Group's (ITG) Burlington plant in Cordova.

VIKING POOLS WILL CREATE 50 JOBS
(August 14, 2006) The Richmond County Board of Commissioners today announced that Viking Pools, makers of composite pools and spas, will open a plant in Richmond County, creating 50 new jobs and investing $2 million. Viking has been in business for over 30 years with operations in West Virginia, Florida, California, and Texas. Viking Pools currently employs approximately 300 people.

(June 12, 2006) Board of Commissioners Chairman Kenneth Robinette today announced that APG-Meridian, makers of aluminum fences, gates and railings, will open a plant in Richmond County, creating 70 new jobs and investing $2.5 million over the next three years. APG Meridian will produce its patented SWEDGE LOCKĀ® product line at the new facility. For more than fifteen years, fence dealers, general contractors, architects and homeowners have grown to appreciate the quality and prestige of SWEDGE LOCKĀ® fences, gates and railing systems.
