Ellerbe, NC – September 5, 2014 – Board of Commissioners Chairman Kenneth Robinette and Affordable Hosiery, LLC has announced the purchase of the Knit-Rite/Therafirm Building in Ellerbe, and has installed several lines of hosiery manufacturing equipment. Affordable Hosiery will be manufacturing various lines of women’s hosiery products, and will hire at least 10 new full time jobs within the next 18 months.
Rodney Mabe, President of Affordable Hosiery, LLC stated, “I am very excited about this new venture for Affordable Hosiery. I am proud to move my business back to the county I am from; it is my goal that Affordable Hosiery and Richmond County grow together.”
“We welcome Affordable Hosiery to Richmond County and are proud that they were able to find a vacant building that fit their needs. This is very good news for the Town of Ellerbe as well as Richmond County,” said Richmond County Board of Commissioners Chairman Kenneth Robinette.
Commissioner Don Bryant stated, "For Affordable Hosiery to decide to locate in Richmond County from another NC county is a testament to the business friendly environment we have created in Richmond County, as well as providing the infrastructure to support industry."
“This is great news for the Town of Ellerbe and Richmond County. We are glad to see a new business moving to Ellerbe and hiring local residents. This will benefit our town by occupying a vacant building, hiring new employees and the increased demand for our water and sewer,” said Mayor of Ellerbe, Lee Berry.
Other partners who helped make this announcement possible are the Town of Ellerbe, Richmond County Economic Development, and Richmond Community College.
