The new Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Commerce, Sharon Decker, recently toured the region to hold town hall style meetings regarding economic development. Much of the Q&A revolved around recent changes with the NC Rural Center, including outstanding grants. During the meeting, Secretary Decker made it clear that rural North Carolina would receive the focus it deserves and should plan to see gains in manufacturing employment.
